A friend of mine used to count votes at elections and she works at Barclays bank. I think she said they paid £10 odd an hour. That's the jeight of scavving!

Perhaps, with so few voting in local elections, many are doing the count today!

I worked for Standish Council and when the polls closed we high tailed it to the council offices in High Street to begin the count. In those days, the 60’s, only when the votes had been counted, we went home no longer leaving the count until the day after. I can’t remember how much got paid but it was good.
